For a visual step-by-step guide on connecting your domain, please watch this video: Connecting Your Domain to Cohere
Step 1: From your coach dashboard, click on the "Emails" section and it'll redirect you to a page from where you'd need to click on "Connect Your Domain" button.
Step 2: After that, a pop-up will appear, asking you to enter your domain and click "Next."
Step 3: Domain Authentication
Authenticating your domain is crucial for ensuring email security and authenticity. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to set them up:
In the next steps, you will be asked to add CNAME and TXT records to your DNS (Domain Name Servers). This is not always where you purchased your domain from. You can check where your DNS are here if you are unsure.
Step 4: DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)
DKIM adds a digital signature to your outgoing emails, allowing recipients to verify that the email was sent from an authorized server.
You will need to add the 3 CNAME records shown on the cohere setup.
Step 5: SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
SPF helps prevent email spoofing by specifying which servers are authorized to send emails on behalf of your domain.
You may already have an SPF record. You must only have ONE SPF record. This is a TXT record that starts with v=spf1.
If there is not one, you will need to add a new TXT record as follows.
v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net ~all
If there is already an SPF record, then please add include:sendgrid.net to it, it could look similar to
v=spf1 include:emsd1.com include:_spf.google.com include:sendgrid.net ~all
Step 6: DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance)
DMARC builds on SPF and DKIM to provide further email authentication and reporting capabilities. You may already have a DMARC record.
This is a TXT record that starts with v=DMARC1
If you do not have one, you can create one for free here. You just enter your domain, and it will provide the TXT record that you need to add
Remember that the exact steps for setting up DKIM, SPF, and DMARC may vary depending on your hosting provider. It's always a good idea to refer to their documentation or contact their support for assistance.
For your convenience, we've included some common DNS providers below:
Step 7: Once you've completed all the steps, tick the checkbox "I added the records" and then click the "Verify and Continue" button. Congratulations. You're all set now.
