How to Create an Email Sequence

Cohere allows you to build automated email sequences that send emails when someone joins a service, downloads a lead magnet, books a session, or is manually tagged.

These sequences help you nurture leads automatically, build trust with clients, and stay connected — even when you’re not online. You can create multi-step nurture flows, set time delays, use tags and triggers, and duplicate past sequences for future campaigns.

By default, your clients are tagged with the name of the service or lead magnet they joined, making it simple to build targeted automations.

How to Create an Email Sequence

Step 1: Open Email Sequences

From your Business Dashboard, click Email Marketing on the left-hand menu, then select Email Sequences.

 

Step 2: Create a New Sequence

Click Create an Email Sequence in the top-right corner.

A pop-up will appear with two options:

• Use an Existing Sequence: Duplicate an existing template by selecting it from the dropdown.

• Create from Scratch: Enter a title and (optional) description, then click Next.

 

Step 3: Add a Trigger

Choose a trigger to start your automation.
Triggers can be based on tags or segments — such as when a client joins a service or downloads a lead magnet.

💡 Tip: By default, contacts are automatically tagged with the service or lead magnet name they joined.

Step 4: Schedule the First Email

Click the + icon to set when your first email should be sent. You’ll have two scheduling options:

• Wait for a Specific Period: Choose a set number of hours or days after the trigger.

• Wait Until a Custom Date/Time: Select an exact date and time for delivery.

Step 5: Add the Email Action

Click the + icon again to add an Action (Email).
You can either:

• Create a New Email, or

• Use an Existing Template from your previously created email sequences.

Step 6: Save Your Sequence

Once your email and timing are set, click Save.
Your first email in the sequence has now been created.

To add more emails, click the + icon again and repeat the process.

Step 7: Activate Your Sequence

When your sequence is complete, toggle it Active from the dropdown menu at the top.
Click Save and Exit to finalize.

🎉 Your automated email sequence is now live — Cohere will handle the rest, sending your emails at exactly the right time based on your triggers and settings.
