How to Connect Your Domain to Cohere

Connecting your domain is an important step for using email campaigns and sequences in Cohere. This ensures your emails are properly authenticated and delivered securely.

You can also extend the same domain (or connect a separate one) for your Cohere website and landing pages. If you do not yet have a domain connected for Cohere landing pages, the Email Marketing setup will guide you through that as an optional second step. You can also skip it and complete it later from the Domains tab.

Step 1: Start from Your Dashboard or the Domains Tab

You can start your domain setup from a few places in Cohere:

Go to your Business Dashboard, click Emails, and select Connect Your Domain.

Or, go to My Account, Domains, click Connect Domain, and choose Email Marketing Setup.

Step 2: Enter Your Domain

A pop-up will appear. Type in your domain and click Next.

Reminder: enter your domain without the www prefix, and do not use a Cohere-provided subdomain (cohere.live) for this setup.

Step 3: Domain Authentication

Authenticating your domain is essential for email security and to prove your messages are genuine.

You will need to add CNAME and TXT records to your DNS (Domain Name Servers).

Reminder: your DNS may not be managed where you purchased your domain. Check where your DNS is hosted here.

Step 4: DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)

DKIM adds a digital signature to your outgoing emails so recipients can confirm they are legitimate.

Add the 3 CNAME records provided in your Cohere setup.

Step 5: SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

SPF tells receiving servers which mail servers are allowed to send email from your domain.

You must only have ONE SPF record (a TXT record starting with v=spf1).

If no SPF record exists, add:

v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net ~all

If there is already an SPF record, then please add include:sendgrid.net to it. It could look similar to:

v=spf1 include:emsd1.com include:_spf.google.com include:sendgrid.net ~all

Step 6: DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance)

DMARC works alongside SPF and DKIM to add further protection and reporting.

DMARC records are TXT records starting with v=DMARC1.

If you do not already have one, you can create one for free here. Just enter your domain and copy the generated TXT record into your DNS.

Step 7: Verify Your Records

Once you have added DKIM, SPF, and DMARC, check the box I added the records and click Verify and Continue.

Your domain is now verified.

Step 8: Add Your Sending Address

After your domain is verified, a success modal will appear. You can add your sending email address directly from this modal, no separate screen needed.

Enter the local part of your email (for example, hello) next to the @yourdomain suffix.
Click Add Address.
Add more addresses if you need, and mark one as the default.

Note: At this time, personal email addresses (for example, Gmail, Yahoo) cannot be used. You will need to add a domain-based sending address purchased through your domain provider.

Step 9: Optional, Continue to Landing Page Setup

If you also want to use this domain for your Cohere landing pages and website, click Continue to Landing Page Setup from the success modal.

You will be asked to choose between:

Use for my website and landing pages. Your Cohere website and landing pages both use your domain.
Use for my landing pages only. Use a subdomain (for example, go.yourname.com) for landing pages while your website is hosted elsewhere.

Cohere will then provide a second set of DNS records to add at your domain provider. Once you add them and click I've added these records, verification begins automatically.

If you prefer to do this later, click Save & Exit. Your domain will be authenticated for email sending, and you can complete landing page setup any time from My Account, Domains.

Managing Your Domain

All your connected domains now live in one place. Go to My Account, Domains to:

See verification status across email, landing pages, and website.
Manage your sending addresses.
Set defaults for email, landing pages, and website.
Disconnect or delete a domain.

This replaces the older domain table that used to live under My Account, Integrations. All your previously connected domains have been moved over and continue to work as before.

Important: Use Your Custom Domain in Email Campaigns

Once your domain is connected, use it for the links inside your email campaigns and sequences. Cohere.live links are no longer supported inside email content because they can affect deliverability.

If you try to paste a Cohere.live link into the email editor, the paste will be blocked and you will be prompted to use your custom domain. Campaigns and sequences that still contain Cohere.live links cannot be sent or duplicated.
